About the Foundation
Women in Northfield Giving Support (WINGS) is a volunteer organization committed to improving the lives of local women and youth. WINGS took flight in 2000 when a small group of visionary women came together to pool their resources and make the most of their giving.
Thanks to the generosity of its members, the WINGS endowment fund now totals more than $465,000. The fund’s earnings provide for annual grantmaking to nonprofit organizations supporting education as well as physical, emotional, social and artistic endeavors that enable women and children to reach their full potential.
How WINGS Makes a Difference
WINGS provides grants to nonprofit organizations serving women and children in the Northfield area. Since its founding, WINGS has given more than $667,000 to nonprofits in the area. The organization supports local initiatives that include suicide-prevention programs, subsidized dental care for children in need, housing subsidies to young mothers and mentoring programs for first-generation college students.
WINGS established a special WINGS Entrepreneurial Fund (WEF) in response to the recent financial crisis to assist women and youth interested in starting businesses.
