From our June 2016 MNSights Advisor Edition E-newsletter

I am pleased to share our first newsletter specifically designed for professional advisors, MNSights: Advisor Edition. The intent of this newsletter is to provide relevant information that equips you to strengthen your practice, better serve your clients and ultimately increase philanthropy's impact in our communities. It will also allow you to have a broader conversation about the Minnesota Philanthropy Partners network and our Foundations' approach to community philanthropy.

Community foundations are place-based. We offer information on local issues that you and your clients may not otherwise know about. We offer well-informed perspective on how to best address the needs of the community, or which organizations or strategies may be the most effective. We also offer connections to various nonprofit organizations and like-minded philanthropists. We help maintain a vital nonprofit sector that can leverage your clients' philanthropic interests.

When you couple these things with strong investment returns and efficient operations, community foundations become very appealing for many individuals and families looking to strengthen their philanthropy. Community foundations provide a simple, powerful and highly personal approach to charitable giving.

In this inaugural issue, our lead article discusses personalized philanthropy and examines how financial advisors become "values-based," helping their clients define their legacy by embracing philanthropy and offering the tools to help them become effective philanthropists.

We hope you come to view MNSights: Advisor Edition as a useful tool to help you provide a streamlined path toward tax benefits and charitable giving for your clients.
