Give the Gift of Hope

Selfless giving of one’s time and resources to impact those in need is the fulfillment of philanthropy’s truest spirit. Generosity without regard to acknowledgement or return is the essence of philanthropy; and it is this spirit that contributes to a state where all people thrive.

The Saint Paul Foundation is proud to shepherd initiatives making a difference for those in our community who work hard, but occasionally face financial crises that can quickly upend their lives. One such program is the Community Sharing Fund, which helps to meet the needs for emergency assistance among residents of the Twin Cities East Metro area (Dakota, Ramsey and Washington counties).

There are countless other nonprofits, community and faith-based organizations that endeavor to meet the needs of our community year-round. Most operate on incredibly lean budgets. I encourage you to learn more about the good work of these institutions. Find one whose mission resonates with your most closely held values and offer your support. Help them give the gift of hope to those in our community whose circumstances have caused them to falter. I believe in doing so you will find truth in the words of Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu, “The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.”
