Transformational Fund

What does "transformation" mean to you?

The Transformational Fund provides one-time, major funding of up to $500,000 for nonprofit organizations serving Hennepin County that are ready for organization-wide, long-term, sustainable change.

What the Fund will support:

  • Organizations that primarily serve Hennepin County
  • Organizations with proven program effectiveness
  • Organizational leadership with pioneering vision and the ability to bring that vision into action
  • Organizations with business models that include a strong revenue mix and a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their current infrastructure
  • Consensus between the board of directors and key staff on the next steps needed for the organization to move to the next level

What the Fund will not support:

  • Individuals, including scholarships or travel-related expenses paid to individuals
  • Political or lobbying organizations

To qualify, your organization's mission must focus on helping economically disadvantaged people become self-sufficient. Educational programs that directly lead to self-sufficiency are encouraged. The grant is intended to: improve effectiveness and efficiency; support dramatic growth and change in a promising organization; and allow an organization to move to the next level in making a significant impact in the community.

We ask all interested organizations to complete our online submission form. The online form is the first step of a two-step process. Please complete and submit your form online no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 31, 2012.

Minnesota Community Foundation staff will review all online submissions and invite three to five organizations to submit full proposals in February 2012. This would be step two of the process.

We are no longer accepting applications. Thank you for your interest.

Deadline for online submissions was 5:00 p.m. on January 31, 2012.
