Community funds benefit specific communities and support many charitable organizations and purposes within those communities.
The Community Funds Program helps smaller communities build permanent endowments and make grants to benefit the community. The Foundation provides the technical support necessary to establish a community foundation to serve the needs of communities of any size.
Resources are raised within a community, held by Minnesota Community Foundation in a named fund, and income from that fund is distributed in the form of grants by the Foundation upon the recommendation of local citizens who serve on an advisory committee for the community fund.
A community fund can help you:
- Support your hometown by endowing a scholarship fund for local high school graduates.
- Build an endowment fund that continues to support a community into the future.
- Give to a specific community through your will.
